Selling your device

Seller terms

Last updated: 23 October 2026

These terms apply when you sell a device to Essential Tech Repairs ("we", "us"), Shop 11/102 Wises Rd, Maroochydore QLD 4558, through our website, by post or in our workshop. By accepting an offer and sending or bringing us your device, you agree to them. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

1. Who can sell to us

You must be 18 or over and the legal owner of the device. It must be fully paid off, not under a finance or phone plan that restricts sale, and not reported lost, stolen or blocked. We buy devices supplied for the Australian market; we may decline or reprice overseas models.

2. Your instant quote

Your online offer is based on the answers you give about the model, storage, condition, battery health and faults. Prices include GST where applicable. Once you accept an offer it is locked in for 14 days. If we receive the device after that, we will price it at the current website price, and you can accept that price or have the device returned free.

Our prices follow the second-hand market and usually fall over time, so a new quote may be lower than an earlier one.

3. Free Express Post shipping

For accepted online offers we provide a prepaid Express Post label at no cost to you. Pack the device securely (its original box or bubble wrap inside a padded envelope or small box), attach the label and drop it at any Express Post box or post office. Please keep your receipt.

While the parcel is in transit with Australia Post, it is covered by Australia Post's terms. If a parcel sent on our label is lost in transit, we will lodge the claim with Australia Post and keep you updated. If you post the device another way, the risk stays with you until it reaches us, and we recommend adding Extra Cover.

You can also drop the device off at our Maroochydore workshop during opening hours.

4. Before you send it

If a device arrives still locked to an account, we will email and call you to remove it. We cannot pay for a locked device. If it is still locked 14 days after we contact you, we will return it to you free of charge.

5. Inspection

We inspect and test every device within one business day of receiving it, against the answers you gave. We check the screen, cameras, Face ID, battery health, buttons, speakers, charging, signal and whether parts have been replaced. We also check the device against the Australian lost and stolen register.

6. Revised offers and free returns

If the device does not match your description (for example extra damage, liquid damage, a lower battery health, non-genuine parts, or a different model or storage), we will send you a revised offer by email and phone, with the reason. You can accept it on your tracking page, or decline and we will post the device back to you free.

If we do not hear from you within 14 days of a revised offer, we will contact you again and then return the device free of charge. We never pay a revised price you have not agreed to.

7. Payment

Once the device passes inspection (or you accept a revised offer), we pay you by PayID or bank transfer within 1 to 2 business days. For workshop drop-offs, we can usually pay you on the spot once inspection is done. We do not pay in cash for posted devices.

Please check your payment details carefully. Payments sent to the details you give us are treated as paid. If a payment fails or is returned, we will contact you to correct the details. We delete your payment details once your order is paid or closed.

8. Identity checks

As a second-hand dealer in Queensland, we are required to record the identity of people who sell goods to us. We will ask for photo ID (driver licence, passport or proof-of-age card) when you drop off a device or before we pay for a posted device. We may also ask for proof of purchase. If you cannot provide these, we may decline the sale and return the device.

9. Lost, stolen or counterfeit devices

If a device is reported lost or stolen, is blocked, or is counterfeit, we will not pay for it. Where the law requires, we will hold it and report it to Queensland Police, and we will not return it to the sender.

10. Accessories

Please send the device only. We cannot guarantee the return of chargers, cables, cases, SIM cards, memory cards or boxes, and any we receive with a completed sale become ours. If your device is returned, we will return accessories we received with it where we reasonably can.

11. Devices sent without an order

If we receive a device with no order, we will try to contact the sender using any details in the parcel. We will offer the current website price, and return the device free if the offer is declined. If we cannot reach anyone within 30 days, we will deal with the device as the law allows for uncollected goods.

12. Cancelling

You can cancel any time before we inspect the device, from your tracking page or by calling us. If the device is already with us, we will post it back free.

13. Your privacy

We use your details only to process your sale, meet our record-keeping duties and contact you about your order. We do not sign you up for marketing. See our privacy policy.

14. Questions or complaints

Call 0414 224 576 or email info@essentialtechrepairs.com.au. If we cannot resolve a dispute, you can contact the Office of Fair Trading Queensland.
